About
Hello, everyone!
My name is William Li. I am a writer, a poet, and the founder of William Li's English Writing Studio. I love writing about life. I was born in Hong Kong and had lived in Singapore, the United States of America, Germany and Portugal. I had studied in the United States and Germany for Economics and held a Bachelor of Art degree and Master of Science degree, respectively. Alongside being a consultant, he captured the nuances of human experience by connecting to places, and stories that reflect journeys of his own. I am currently reside in Poland.
Imagine you are looking into the fogged mirror in the morning of haze, and you are wondering about the upcoming tragedy of your day. What would you expect? And what have you learned from yesterday’s misery? What is your feeling overall? It’s all about self-reflection. In this book, the author invites you to see through feelings and self-expression about people, places, and key events that happened to be pragmatic in life. You may find the line between past and present blurring, memories resurfacing in gentle waves or crashing with the weight of regret. Through moments of solitude and connection, your emotions shift, coloring your perceptions of the day ahead. This books encourage you to pause amid the rush, allowing your thoughts to settle like dew on glass.
The book moves between the physical world—harvest seasons, sandy loam, the warmth of a grandmother’s armchair—and the interior world of reflection, identity, and emotional reconstruction. The songbird perched on the old oak becomes a symbol of continuity, a witness to both hardship and healing. Its call threads through the pages as a reminder that even in isolation, there is companionship in nature, memory, and the act of creation itself. These poems examine the self the way a painter studies a portrait: layer by layer, shadow by shadow, truth by truth. They confront misfortune without surrendering to it, transforming grief into gratitude and introspection into clarity. Through lyrical storytelling and vivid sensory detail—the crackle of a fireplace, the scent of roast coffee, the ritual of modest breakfasts—the collection reveals how the smallest moments can anchor us when the past feels too heavy to hold.
This book is an invitation to sit still, to listen, and to look inward. It is for readers who have sought refuge in simplicity, who have felt the ache of memory, or who have discovered unexpected strength in the quiet corners of their lives. Blending rural imagery with intimate self‑portraiture, the collection celebrates endurance, identity, and the profound beauty of being shaped—yet not defined—by the past.
When the world above becomes too loud, they slip beneath the waves—into a realm where gravity loosens, secrets rise, and passion moves like music. On the sea floor, surrounded by drifting light and the hush of deep water, two wanderers find each other in the quiet blue. We Kiss and Dance Bachata on the Sea Floor follows their journey as they learn to trust, to touch, and to let go of the weight they carried on land. Down here, every movement is a confession, every dance a surrender, and every kiss a promise shaped by pressure and depth. This is a story of unexpected connection, of love discovered in the most unlikely place, and of the rhythm that teaches them how to rise again.
In the world of two, the world above maybe too loud—sirens slicing the night, traffic humming like restless drums, and the city’s heartbeat pounding against their ribs—they slip beneath the waves. Down there, gravity loosens, secrets rise, and passion moves like music. On the sea floor, far from neon lights and crowded streets, two wanderers find each other in the quiet blue. We Kiss and Dance Bachata on the Sea Floor follows their journey as they trade the rhythm of the city for the rhythm of the deep. In the hush of underwater twilight, every movement becomes a confession, every dance a surrender, and every kiss a promise shaped by pressure and depth. This is a poetry collection of unexpected connections, of love, of hate, of coincidence upon discovery, where silence replaces sirens, where currents replace crowds, and where the ocean teaches them a new kind of rhythm. A rhythm that shows them how to rise again.
The author uses New York City as the primary setting for the experiences in this book, yet the emotions and encounters described here could unfold anywhere in daily life. The poems in this collection were written between 2025 and 2026 in an unnamed city with characteristics similar to New York. I hope you enjoy reading them.
